The role involves working closely with a retired U.S. Immigration Judge, providing high-level insight into case strategy and decision-making. The attorney will manage active cases from the start, focusing on removal defense and humanitarian relief.

Duties

• Represent clients before EOIR in various hearings.
• Develop and execute strategies for removal defense.
• Draft briefs, motions, and memoranda for EOIR, BIA, and federal courts.
• Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings.
• Conduct legal and country-conditions research.
• Represent clients before USCIS in interviews and filings.
• Respond to RFEs, NOID, NOIR.
• Prepare and review USCIS applications and evidence packets.
• Advise clients on USCIS processes and strategies.
• Supervise and collaborate with paralegals.
• Stay updated on immigration laws and policies.
• Write blogs, articles, newsletters, and CLEs.

Requirements

• Experience with government agencies or nonprofit immigration organizations is valued.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in immigration law.
• Strong oral advocacy skills.
• Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Russian preferred.
• Commitment to immigrant rights.

Education

• J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in any U.S. state.
