Job Overview:
A premier regional law firm is seeking a Land Use Associate to join its Real Estate & Natural Resources Department. This role presents an opportunity to support the firm's dynamic Land Use practice, handling various real estate, environmental, and administrative law matters. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in land use law, including administrative proceedings, public hearings, and litigation. Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills are essential, and candidates with experience in related fields like environmental or real estate law may be considered as well. Location:

• Portland, OR

Duties:

• Represent clients in land use matters, including public hearings and administrative proceedings
• Handle general litigation tasks, including briefing and oral advocacy
• Conduct research and analysis on development feasibility and land use regulations
• Draft land use applications and analyze administrative codes and regulations
• Assist with appellate briefing and other legal documentation
• Work independently while collaborating with team members on complex projects
• Contribute to business development efforts in land use, real estate, construction, and natural resources sectors

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in land use law, real estate, environmental law, or administrative law
• Experience in public hearings, administrative proceedings, and litigation
• Strong ability to analyze and apply administrative codes and regulations
• Solid research, writing, and analytical skills
• Ability to draft clear and concise legal documents, including land use applications
• Demonstrated initiative and ownership of projects
• Strong client service ethics and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Oregon State Bar admission or eligibility for immediate reciprocity required

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
• Excellent academic credentials

Certifications:

• Oregon State Bar admission or eligibility for immediate reciprocity
