Entry-Level Immigration Attorney
Job Overview:
A San Antonio, TX-based law firm is seeking a driven and compassionate Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join its expanding legal practice. This opportunity is ideal for a licensed attorney aiming to build hands-on litigation and client advocacy experience within a collaborative legal team. The role involves direct client engagement, representation in immigration courts, and contributions to a dynamic immigration practice with ample room for career advancement.
Duties:
Provide detailed consultations to clients, explaining immigration processes and evaluating strategic legal options
Represent clients in immigration court, including detained and non-detained removal defense cases
Draft and file immigration petitions and applications, including family-based and humanitarian matters
Conduct legal intakes at detention centers
Prepare clients and witnesses for USCIS interviews and court testimony
Research, draft, and submit legal briefs for diverse immigration proceedings
Coordinate with government agencies, law enforcement, and community groups on immigration-related issues
Maintain accurate case documentation and ensure the timely progression of assigned files
Review applications and filings for accuracy and completeness
Requirements:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in immigration law
Admitted to practice law and in good standing with at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases concurrently
Commitment to high-quality client service and a collaborative team environment
Willingness to travel to detention centers when required
Spanish fluency preferred but not required
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school
Certifications:
Active law license in any U.S. state or territory
Skills:
Excellent legal writing and verbal advocacy skills
Comfortable working independently and in team settings
Familiarity with immigration court procedures and USCIS processes
Proficiency in legal case management software is a plus
