Corporate Paralegal
The candidate will report directly to an Associate General Counsel, and indirectly to the Senior Vice President, Government & Regulatory Affairs. Perform initial assessment of marketing collateral and contracts to help identify issues for legal review and streamline review of materials. Engage in substantive review and revision of select marketing collateral and contracts using standards developed by the Associate General Counsel. Serve as a Legal Department key liaison to various internal departments including consumer marketing, business-to-business marketing, public relations, product development, institutional analytics, and enrollment support teams. Refine and manage the Legal Department’s processes for efficiently providing accurate and prompt counsel on marketing collateral and contracts, while stewarding and promoting Company culture of compliance. Collaborate with other legal team members to efficiently use team resources, refer projects and inquiries to appropriate colleagues, and monitor, track, and advise on matters from initiation through conclusion. Track the flow of marketing collateral and contracts, assist in prioritizing projects, and refine and manage metrics for assessing the efficiency of legal review processes. Provide excellent client service and authoritatively manage client expectations for Legal Department processes and deliverables. Maintain familiarity with regulatory requirements, higher education marketing best practices, and industry developments. Assist with special projects assigned by the Associate General Counsel related to the legal needs of the client teams supported by this function. Collaborate with peers and serve a variety of other Legal Department functions as needed. Bachelor’s Degree from an institutionally accredited institution of higher education. Exceptional people skills and ability to build positive relationships across the organization. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Paralegal certificate preferred. 2+ years of experience as a marketing project manager or paralegal, with demonstrated increasing responsibilities. Experience with Version One or other lifecycle management software. Experience with Workfront or other shared commentary software. Experience with Westlaw and basic legal research. Familiarity with higher education. Experience supporting multiple geographically and culturally distinct corporate clients.
