Associate Corporate Counsel

The candidate will support the NRDC/NRDC Action Fund contracting function within the Corporate Counsel function as well as provide general legal counsel and support on a variety of other in-house legal matters. Draft, review, and negotiate institutional contracts for the Council's functions. Advise internal clients on the interpretation of, and compliance with, contracts, and on issues related to contracting, such as independent contractor classification. Assist in the management of the institutional contracts management platform. Assist internal clients with contract dispute resolution issues. Provide ongoing legal support on a variety of in-house legal matters, including support for substantive programmatic work and support for operations functions (Finance, Real Estate and Workplace Strategies, Development and IT). Provide staff with training on issues related to contracting and other relevant legal topics. Assist with the establishment, implementation, and management of various internal policies and procedures. Monitor and advise on legal and regulatory developments relevant to the Council's operations. Work with outside counsel as necessary, and effectively assist in the management of related billing and budgetary considerations. Should have a Law degree from an accredited law school and active Bar membership in relevant jurisdiction(s). Must have 2+ years of law practice. Demonstrated experience with contracts and business law is needed.
