Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Patent Agent with a minimum of 4 years of post-AIA patent prosecution and drafting experience to join its Chemical practice in Alexandria, VA. The ideal candidate will have a technical degree in organic or inorganic chemistry, with a preference for organic chemistry.

Duties

• Draft patent applications.
• Analyze and prepare replies to office actions.
• Conduct invention and disclosure meetings with clients.
• Prosecute patent applications.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of relevant experience in a law firm setting.
• Superior technical knowledge, writing, and communication skills.
• Registration and good standing before the USPTO.
• Fluency in a foreign language is a plus; Japanese or Korean preferred.

Education

• Technical degree in organic or inorganic chemistry.
• Master's or Doctorate in the relevant field is a plus.

Certifications

• Registered to practice before the USPTO.

• Strong technical knowledge in chemistry.
