Job Overview:
A respected regional litigation firm is actively seeking a Civil Litigation Associate Attorney to join its Asheville, North Carolina office. This position offers meaningful responsibility across a broad spectrum of civil litigation cases, including personal injury, commercial disputes, insurance defense, and construction defects. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of litigation experience, a strong foundation in legal research and writing, and a willingness to work in a hybrid setting in the Western NC region.

Location:

  • Asheville, North Carolina

Duties:

  • Manage civil litigation cases through all phases of litigation

  • Draft pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and legal briefs

  • Conduct legal research and formulate litigation strategy

  • Attend and argue motions in state and federal court

  • Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts

  • Provide legal updates and risk assessments to managing attorneys and clients

  • Develop strategies for a range of litigation matters including:

    • Motor vehicle negligence

    • Premises liability

    • Product liability

    • Personal injury

    • Construction defect

    • Commercial litigation

    • Insurance coverage

    • Professional liability claims

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in civil litigation

  • Demonstrated courtroom and deposition experience

  • Able to independently manage caseload with guidance from supervising attorneys

  • Willingness to work in a smaller team within a larger firm structure

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in North Carolina (required)

Skills:

  • Excellent legal research and writing skills

  • Strong verbal advocacy and analytical abilities

  • Detail-oriented and highly organized

  • Comfortable handling responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
