Energy Regulatory Associate Attorney

Profile

A law firm in Kansas City is seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Associate Attorney with 4-5 years of energy transactional and/or regulatory litigation and compliance experience. The ideal candidate will handle regulatory and compliance matters before the Texas Public Utility Commission and other state energy regulatory commissions, with a focus on matters involving the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) or other ISO/RTOs or organized power markets.

Job Details:

• Handle regulatory and compliance matters before the Texas Public Utility Commission and other state energy regulatory commissions.
• Experience in matters before or involving the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) or other ISO/RTOs or organized power markets.
• Advocate before state utility commissions, with a focus on power transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, power sales, and related matters.
• Demonstrate a strong academic record and superior judgment.
• Work collaboratively with a team and effectively manage multiple projects.
• Articulate legal strategies and courses of action.

Requirements:

Active Bar license in the state.

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Experience:

4-5 years of energy transactional and/or regulatory litigation and compliance experience.

Skills:

• Experience with regulatory and compliance matters before energy regulatory commissions.
• Familiarity with Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) or other ISO/RTOs or organized power markets.
• Advocacy experience before state utility commissions.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team.
• Superior judgment and ability to articulate legal strategies.
• Effective project management skills.
