A law firm seeks an accomplished attorney with eight years of experience in estate and tax planning to join their Ventura, CA office. The successful candidate will guide high-net-worth individuals and families through comprehensive wealth-transfer strategies, draft sophisticated planning documents, and ensure tax-efficient estate administration in close collaboration with financial and fiduciary professionals.

Duties

• Draft and review wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance health care directives.
• Develop and implement tax-efficient estate plans, including gift, generation-skipping, and charitable strategies.
• Prepare federal and state estate and gift tax returns and related tax elections.
• Advise clients on wealth-transfer techniques, such as GRATs, family limited partnerships, and charitable trusts.
• Oversee trust administration and probate proceedings, coordinating with executors, trustees, and fiduciaries.
• Conduct client consultations to analyze financial situations, objectives, and risk tolerance.
• Collaborate with CPAs, financial advisors, and insurance specialists to integrate multidisciplinary solutions.
• Mentor junior attorneys and paralegals on document drafting, tax research, and client communications.

Requirements

• Active membership in the California State Bar.
• 8 years of experience in estate planning and tax law.
• Demonstrated expertise in federal and state transfer-tax statutes and regulations.
• Proven track record of managing complex client matters from inception through administration.
• Strong legal research, drafting, and project-management capabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a client-service orientation.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the California State Bar.
• LL.M. in Taxation preferred (but not required).

Skills

• In-depth knowledge of Internal Revenue Code 2001-2801 and California probate law.
• Proficiency with estate-planning and document-management software (e.g., WealthDocx, HotDocs).
• Exceptional analytical, writing, and oral-advocacy abilities.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple client engagements.
