Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid-level associate to join its Commercial Disputes practice in Portland, OR. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in litigation and the ability to manage cases independently from inception to resolution, demonstrating exceptional legal analysis, strategic thinking, and advocacy skills.

Duties

  • Manage a caseload of complex litigation matters from start to finish.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Develop and implement case strategies with team members.
  • Conduct depositions, witness interviews, and all aspects of discovery.
  • Prepare and argue motions and briefs before state and federal courts.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and negotiate settlements.
  • Stay current on legal developments and best practices in litigation.
  • Assist with business development efforts, including client presentations.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the state bar and in good standing; California and Washington bar admissions are a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in litigation law, with a focus on commercial litigation preferred.
  • Strong litigation skills, including drafting pleadings and conducting discovery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with electronic discovery and litigation support tools preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the state bar and in good standing.
