A law firm seeks a junior to midlevel associate attorney to join its insurance coverage practice in Portland, OR. The position involves handling matters under various commercial policies for a wide range of claims, including representing insurers in coverage disputes across Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana. Duties

• Evaluate insurance policies and assess risks, communicating legal standards to clients.
• Conduct extensive legal research and draft coverage opinions, briefs, memos, and pleadings.
• Represent insurer clients in court and depositions.
• Collaborate with partners and clients to provide timely coverage advice.
• Manage deadlines and assignments independently.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Oregon and/or Washington; additional bar admissions in Idaho or Montana are a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in insurer or policyholder coverage practice.
• Experience with depositions and mediations; extended coverage opinion experience a plus.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Professional demeanor with strong client-relations and communication skills.
• Must be responsive and organized, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law in Oregon and/or Washington.

• Familiarity with insurance policies and coverage determinations.
