Patent Agent or Engineer

Profile

A law firm is seeking a Patent Agent or Engineer for their Denver office. The Patent Agent or Engineer will be responsible for patent drafting, prosecution, and portfolio management, with a focus on technical fields such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, or Robotics. Preferred candidates will have experience in AI-related fields, including machine learning, generative models, and data/image analytics. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for collaborating with internal and external clients, attorneys, and staff.

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patent applications in technical fields such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Data Science, ML, or Robotics
• Conduct patent analysis and opinions of counsel
• Assist with Inter Partes Reviews (IPRs) and other patent-related proceedings
• Manage patent portfolios and provide strategic advice on portfolio development and management
• Collaborate with inventors, attorneys, and clients to identify and protect intellectual property assets
• Conduct patentability and infringement analyses
• Provide technical support for patent litigation matters

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Data Science, ML, or Robotics
• 2+ years of patent drafting and prosecution experience at a firm or in-house
• Experience with portfolio management
• Admission to the USPTO (preferred)
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse groups
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
