Job Overview:
A Columbia, SC-based law firm is actively seeking a Litigation Associate with prior experience in insurance defense to join its growing legal team. Duties:

• Analyze newly assigned cases to develop strategy, budgets, and recommended actions

• Identify necessary pleadings and coordinate drafting or review through support staff

• Prepare responses to discovery requests and manage related document production

• Attend and report on depositions, court appearances, and discovery-related events

• Negotiate case resolutions and prepare matters for trial when appropriate

• Maintain proactive communication with paralegals and legal assistants

• Collaborate with team members to ensure client service excellence and legal compliance

Requirements:

• Active license to practice law in the state of South Carolina

• Between 1-5 years of legal practice experience

• 1-3 years of prior experience in insurance defense preferred

• Demonstrated ability to independently manage case files and deadlines

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and staff

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Licensed and in good standing with the South Carolina State Bar

Skills:

• Solid organizational skills with attention to detail

• Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

• Familiarity with or willingness to learn case management and legal database systems

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust to shifting deadlines

• Strong interpersonal abilities and professional integrity

• Initiative-driven and capable of working both independently and collaboratively
