Program Director, Stop the School-to-Prison Pipeline (STOPP)
The candidate will lead and expand the STOPP program at the organization, integrating and centering racial equity in all aspects of program planning and implementation. Oversee the statewide Chapter 222 School Discipline Coalition, including coordinating its four active subcommittees. Lead the work of the C. 222 Coalition focused on building stronger partnerships with communities, families, and students/youth. Conduct legislative and administrative advocacy aimed at reducing reliance on exclusionary discipline and punitive practices in schools. Provide direct legal representation for a small caseload of clients involving students of color with disabilities and/or mental health challenges. Identify intersections and coordinate advocacy efforts with the organization's other three programs. Coordinate state-level advocacy with national movement efforts to end the school-to-prison pipeline. Conduct fundraising, including grant writing, to expand funding for the STOPP program. Provide exemplary leadership and support to all members of the STOPP team as it expands. Support the efforts of the organization's Helpline team on issues related to school discipline, physical restraint, and seclusion.
