A law firm seeks a Senior Patent Attorney / Patent Agent in Summit, NJ. This role involves working with innovative companies in the life sciences sector to develop and execute intellectual property strategies that align with commercial goals.

Duties

• Prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in the life sciences space.
• Develop strategic patent portfolios aligned with clients' business objectives.
• Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and landscape analyses.
• Advise clients on IP strategy, risk management, and competitive positioning.
• Support trademark matters, including clearance, prosecution, and strategy.
• Engage directly with clients to understand evolving technologies and business priorities.
• Contribute to the firm's collaborative, client-focused culture.
• Conduct new client consultations.

Requirements

• Minimum 8+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution.
• Advanced degree (Ph.D. required) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.
• Strong preference for candidates with industry experience in pharmaceuticals or biotechnology.
• Registered to practice before the USPTO.
• Admission to at least one state bar (for attorney candidates).

Education

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.

Certifications

• Registered to practice before the USPTO.
