Duties:
- Develop and share subject matter expertise with clients, partners, and law firm members.
- Review bankruptcy documents, including Chapter 7, Chapter 11, Chapter 12, and Chapter 13 cases.
- Attend hearings and represent clients in assigned contested matters.
- Timely advise clients and staff on file-specific legal matters.
- Continuously improve and stay current with laws impacting clients and the practice.
- Assisted in training staff and handling Chapter 7, Chapter 12, and Chapter 13 cases as they pertained to the role of secured creditors.
- Handle mid-level escalated/litigated matters with guidance from the managing bankruptcy attorney.
- Acquire knowledge of underlying non-bankruptcy laws and procedures, such as foreclosure and eviction.
- Conduct PACER reviews to determine whether foreclosure or eviction may proceed.
- Provide legal and compliance review of pleadings and documents.
- Prepare for and attend motion hearings on flat fee matters.
- Negotiate resolutions with opposing counsel.
- Oversee, educate, and collaborate with non-attorney staff in compliance with legal and ethical requirements.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate in Law.
- Must be Barred in Maryland and admitted to Pennsylvania Bankruptcy Courts.
- 1-5 years of experience representing architects and engineers and handling complex construction claims.
Skills:
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Knowledge of Chapter 7, Chapter 12, and Chapter 13 cases, with a focus on secured creditors.
- Negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with local rules, procedures, and judges.
- Ability to oversee and collaborate with non-attorney staff.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
