A leading regional law firm is actively seeking a full-time Patent Agent with a focus on biotechnology and pharmaceutical patent prosecution. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong life sciences background and a minimum of two years of relevant experience. The position offers the opportunity to work with a collaborative and innovative Intellectual Property team serving clients in the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors. The role is based in the Pacific Northwest and offers hybrid work flexibility.

Location

Duties

• Prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals

• Advise clients on patent strategy and portfolio development

• Conduct due diligence and freedom-to-operate analyses

• Draft legal opinions related to patentability, infringement, validity, and enforceability

• Collaborate with attorneys and agents across multiple offices

• Provide client counseling in IP matters related to life sciences innovations

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in biotech/pharmaceutical patent prosecution

• Ability to manage client relationships and handle matters independently

• Strong client service orientation and ability to work within a team-based environment

• For agents: USPTO registration required

Education

• Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in biology, biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, or related field

Certifications

• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (required for all candidates)
