Staff Attorney – Operation Veterans Re-Entry
The candidate will be responsible for: Handle a full caseload of cases on behalf of veterans and military families, including veterans benefits, discharge upgrades, dismissals, disability discrimination, landlord/tenant disputes and other legal matters. Coordinate referrals to other PLC units as needed to provide holistic legal services to veterans and military families. Participate in collaborative advocacy efforts in coalition with other legal service providers and community partners. Conduct community education presentations to clients, partner agencies, and service providers. Oversee volunteer attorneys and law students through training, technical support and general supervision. Participate in and help to coordinate legal clinics and workshops. Assist with periodic compilation of data related to grant funding. Represent PLC at legal networking and community outreach events. Must have Active membership in the California State Bar. Should have 1-3 years experience in veterans law preferred. Demonstrated commitment to working with low-income communities required. Should have excellent oral/written communication skills.
