Entry-Level Immigration Attorney
Job Overview:
A Houston-based law firm is actively seeking a motivated Entry-Level Immigration Attorney. This role presents a valuable opportunity for a newly licensed legal professional to gain hands-on experience in immigration law within a collaborative, client-focused environment. The selected candidate will work closely with senior attorneys and a legal support team to handle immigration matters, including removal defense and family-based applications. Duties:
Conduct consultations and explain immigration procedures and legal strategies to clients
Represent clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals
Prepare and file immigration applications, including family-based petitions and humanitarian relief
Visit detention centers to perform intakes and case evaluations for detained individuals
Review, revise, and finalize immigration packets for submission
Collaborate with government and community stakeholders on evolving immigration policies
Interview clients and witnesses in preparation for testimony before courts and agencies
Develop and execute individualized legal strategies based on client goals and eligibility
Draft legal memoranda and briefs supporting immigration relief
Maintain and manage a consistent caseload under the supervision of senior attorneys
Requirements:
Licensed to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction
Minimum of 1 year of experience in immigration law preferred
Willingness to travel for client visits or court appearances
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Spanish-English bilingual abilities are strongly preferred
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active bar membership in good standing in any U.S. state or territory
Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong legal research and analytical abilities
Proficiency with case management software is a plus
Demonstrated commitment to immigrant rights and legal advocacy
High level of professionalism and interpersonal sensitivity
