A law firm seeks a skilled Intellectual Property (IP) Litigation Associate to join its dynamic team in Chicago. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 4 years of experience handling patent and trade secret litigation matters. Duties

• Represent clients in patent and trade secret litigation matters, advocating for their interests in a variety of legal proceedings.
• Provide strategic guidance and legal analysis to clients in the IP space.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents related to litigation.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on technical issues to support litigation strategies.
• Engage in discovery processes, including document review, depositions, and witness preparation.
• Work collaboratively with senior attorneys and clients to prepare for trials and other legal proceedings.
• Manage case files, monitor deadlines, and ensure adherence to court orders and procedural rules.
• Build relationships with clients and assist in expanding the firm's business in the IP practice area.

Requirements

• 2 to 4 years of experience in patent and/or trade secret litigation.
• Proven ability to handle complex legal issues and demonstrate strong legal research and writing skills.
• Experience with technical analysis and the ability to comprehend and apply technical details in litigation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and witnesses.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team of attorneys and support staff.
• Strong commitment to providing exceptional legal services and client satisfaction.

Education

• A Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the bar in Illinois is required.
• Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is strongly preferred.

Skills

• Strong research and writing skills.
• Technical background in engineering, physics, computer science, or a closely related field is essential.
• Ability to effectively communicate complex legal and technical concepts to clients and colleagues.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple litigation matters simultaneously.
• An advanced degree in science or engineering is a plus, along with industry experience or knowledge in computer programming.
