Job Overview:
A Sacramento-based law firm is seeking a mid-level associate with a strong concentration in pharmaceutical patent litigation, particularly under the Hatch-Waxman Act. This position offers a unique opportunity to join a dynamic intellectual property litigation team known for representing top-tier clients in complex and high-stakes patent disputes. The ideal candidate brings both scientific fluency and litigation experience to bear on matters involving pharmaceutical products and related regulatory challenges.

Duties:

• Handle all phases of Hatch-Waxman litigation, including pre-suit investigations, ANDA-related patent challenges, and regulatory strategy

• Draft and review pleadings, dispositive motions, and legal briefs

• Lead and manage fact discovery, expert reports, and depositions

• Contribute to trial preparation, strategy development, and courtroom presentation

• Collaborate closely with technical experts and life sciences professionals

• Coordinate multi-jurisdictional case activity and support cross-functional litigation teams

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on litigation experience, specifically in Hatch-Waxman or pharmaceutical IP cases

• Demonstrated expertise in patent litigation under U.S. federal laws

• Familiarity with the FDA regulatory landscape related to generic drug approvals

• Exceptional writing, research, and oral advocacy skills

• Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple priorities

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the State Bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, preferably California

• Active and in good standing with relevant bar authorities

Skills:

• Technical background or academic exposure in chemistry, biology, pharmacology, or a related discipline preferred

• Analytical and strategic thinking applied to complex legal problems

• Detail-oriented approach with the ability to work independently and within a team

• Adept at managing both the scientific and procedural dimensions of IP litigation
