Schedule: Monday through Friday, including holidays.

Hours: Monday through Thursday, 5:50 am – 1:50 pm; Friday 5:50 am – 12:00 pm. This position generally averages 40 hours per week.

Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

Candidates must reside within the United States

Candidates with agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.

Starting Wage: $16.45

Summary :

This position collects data in the feed conversion houses and dissection laboratory by using measuring instruments and electronic devices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Collect Data and Perform House Checklist within Feed Conversion Houses performing the following duties: weigh chickens into and out of their cages; record and add feed to feeders as needed; collect data with pen and paper and/or on a computer or tablet; check bird’s heart rate and blood oxygen with pulse-oximeter following the accepted protocols; dispose of dead birds as instructed; feed birds according to schedules; clean and disinfect equipment; house set-up; perform routine housekeeping duties; segregate birds according to line and sex as instructed; remove and place birds in cages according to schedules; examine birds for signs of illness and report any problems to lead or manager; monitor controls and thermostats that regulate temperature and humidity of the poultry house; perform simple math as part of recording information according to instructions such as bird weight, feed, added feed, and mortality; repair, align, and construct cages, pens or equipment (feeders, water lines, lights, vents, etc) (60%)

Collect Data within Dissection Laboratory performing the following duties: euthanize birds; use scalpel to dissect birds into specific parts to accepted protocols; visually score for defects in physiology; use a caliper to collect data; enter weights and defects into tablet or computer; dispose of dead dissect birds into incinerators (30%)

These may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as: collect swab samples; clean, disinfect, and haul coops; maintain foot bath, hand sanitizer, hydro-foamer, sweep, mop, and other general cleaning; properly euthanize weak/ill birds in accordance with company policy (10%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements :

The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment :

Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly lift and/or move 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds, items such as cases of Synergize, supplies, etc; required to occasionally use wheeled dollies to lift and/or move up to 500 pounds of feed, supplies, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift on concrete; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; stoop/bend up to 1000 times per day; repetitive hand/wrist movements while dissecting birds with scalpel, knife or other cutting instrument; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus. Must have good communication skills to accurately convey opinions and concerns.

Tools and Equipment: Scale, Tablet, Scanner, Oximeter, Scalpel, Drill, Safety Knife, Pressure Washer

Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and work in hot, dry, extreme dusty, wet and cold environments.

Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety goggles, safety glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, cutting gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required. Must wear company provided facial covering. Ear plugs will be used as needed. NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed.

Chemicals Commonly Used: Disinfectants such as Synergize, Viricide, Simple Green, Lysol, etc.

Safety: TM is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. TM is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.

During the current Pandemic (2020), all Team Members will be required to wear company issued facial coverings. Training will be provided to each Team Member specific to their job and their facility location in addition to signing an acknowledgement form they understand these expectations.

It is considered an essential function of each job for a Team Member to wear the company issued facial coverings. If a Team Member indicates they will not wear the mask, they will not be considered for the position in which they are applying or any position that requires the facial covering. If a Team Member has a medical condition or disability that prevents them from wearing the mask, Cobb will engage in an interactive process to determine whether a reasonable accommodation can be provided that addresses the safety concerns associated with the Pandemic and allow the Team Member to perform the essential functions of the job.
