A respected law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Patent Agent with a technical background in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related discipline. This role centers on patent drafting and prosecution with exposure to advanced technologies, including AI and machine learning. Duties:

• Prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications

• Conduct technical discussions with inventors and clients to understand innovations

• Collaborate with attorneys on IP strategies and client counseling

• Respond to office actions and communicate with the USPTO

• Assist in patentability, freedom-to-operate, and infringement analyses

• Keep current on trends in IP law, particularly in software and emerging tech

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in relevant technologies

• Familiarity with AI and machine learning-related inventions preferred

• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office

• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a client-oriented environment

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field

Certifications:

• USPTO Registration (Required)
