Guide individuals and families through estate and trust planning, including the creation of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other personal planning instruments.
Advise clients on tax-efficient strategies for wealth transfer and asset protection.
Prepare and review legal documentation for sophisticated estate plans, charitable giving, and probate matters.
Oversee and support the administration of trusts and estates, including surrogate’s court proceedings, fiduciary accountings, and tax filings.
Counsel executors, trustees, and beneficiaries on legal obligations and rights.
Collaborate with financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to create comprehensive and customized solutions for clients.
Remain current on changes in estate, gift, and inheritance tax laws at the state and federal level.
Provide litigation support or represent clients in estate-related disputes, when necessary.
Between 1 to 6 years of experience practicing in trusts and estates or a closely related discipline.
Licensed to practice law in the state of New York and be in good standing.
Background in tax law, estate administration, or elder law is beneficial but not required.
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and with empathy.
Strong writing, drafting, and organizational skills.
Client-focused mindset with a discreet and respectful approach to sensitive matters.
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a legal team.
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a U.S.-accredited law school.
A completed Bachelor’s degree before attending law school.
Additional coursework or certification in tax or estate planning is a plus, though not mandatory.
Attention to detail in both legal writing and client interaction.
Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously with efficiency and care.
Professional demeanor with the maturity to handle confidential information.
Familiarity with estate planning software and legal research tools.
Excellent listening and interpersonal communication abilities.
