Job Overview:
A law firm located in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a highly motivated Patent Agent or Technical Analyst to join its technology group. This role is ideal for an individual with a strong technical background and a passion for intellectual property, particularly in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications. The candidate will play a key role in providing technical support in legal proceedings and developing prosecution strategies while working in a collaborative environment.

Duties:

• Assist with preparing and prosecuting patent applications
• Contribute to prosecution strategy development
• Provide technical and legal research for matters before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
• Offer technical support for patent interference and litigation proceedings
• For Patent Agents, manage post-grant and/or IPR proceedings
• Draft legal documents and prepare filings related to patent law
• Conduct detailed patent analysis and investigations

Requirements:

• Strong interest and technical background in engineering, particularly in technology or related fields
• 0-3 years of experience.
• Ability to understand and apply complex legal principles in technical contexts
• Must be eligible to sit for the patent bar
• Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills
• Experience with patent prosecution or technical analysis preferred
• No USPTO registration required

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

Certifications:

• Patent Bar eligibility is required.

• Strong technical writing and analytical skills
• Knowledge of patent prosecution and patent law
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines
