A prominent law firm located in Santa Monica, CA is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Intellectual Property Associate to support its technology-focused litigation practice. This role offers a unique opportunity to work alongside seasoned litigators handling complex patent and trade secret disputes for global innovators. Ideal candidates will have a technical or engineering academic foundation and prior experience navigating intellectual property cases in federal courts or administrative proceedings.

Duties

• Contribute to litigation strategies involving patents and trade secrets

• Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda with minimal supervision

• Manage discovery processes, including depositions and expert reports

• Collaborate with technical experts and in-house teams

• Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis

• Assist in preparing cases for trial and hearings

• Participate in proceedings before administrative bodies such as the ITC or PTO

• Stay informed about developments in IP law and litigation

Requirements

• 2-4 years of legal experience with a focus on intellectual property litigation

• Demonstrated background in patent or trade secret matters

• Proficient in legal writing, research, and courtroom advocacy

• Ability to work independently while managing multiple matters

• Admission to the California State Bar is required

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

• An undergraduate or advanced degree in a technical discipline is preferred.

Certifications

• Active membership in the California Bar

• USPTO admission is a plus
