Staff Attorney (Personal Injury) - Temporary

The candidate will be responsible for: Represents the agency in litigation and other proceeding before courts primarily concerning personal injury and property damage claims. Provides legal advice and counsel to management, including risk management and other department regarding potential and actual claims and other matters. Negotiates disputes and analyzes liability or litigation exposure. Provides well-reasoned, thorough legal opinions and guidance on various legal matters affecting METRO. Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Must have Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Doctor of Jurisprudence preferred. Should have 1-4 years’ litigation experience before state courts, federal courts and administrative agencies. Experience handling personal injury cases from answer to verdict is preferred. Must have Active license to practice law in the state of Texas. Knowledge of the Texas Tort Claims Act and technical legal skills required. Must have knowledge of legal and court procedures, terminology and documents.
