Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Litigation Associate in Syracuse, NY. This role focuses on defending tort litigation for municipal clients. The position offers flexibility to work in either the Syracuse or Ithaca office, with occasional meetings in Syracuse. This is a partner-track opportunity in a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

Duties

• Prepare cases for summary judgment, depositions, and hearings.
• Draft status reports and track case progress.
• Analyze discovery and draft responses and requests.
• Draft motions and manage lawsuit defense tasks.
• Bill time to insurance defense matters, meeting monthly targets.
• Contribute to marketing through research and content development.
• Engage in non-billable research and business development tasks.

Requirements

• Admitted to practice law in New York State.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Exhibit excellent attention to detail.
• Familiarity with Clio, Slack, and Asana is a plus.
• Litigation experience preferred but not required.
• Friendly and adaptable to a casual office culture.
• Willingness to learn new skills and take responsibility for assignments.
• Possess a "can-do" attitude.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice law in New York State.
