Assistant General Counsel

The candidate will work independently and collaboratively with Office of General Counsel colleagues, will be responsible for a broad range of substantive areas. will research and draft memoranda, opinions, and correspondence on a range of legal issues, collaborate with colleagues and advise on initiatives, handle and advise on transactional, corporate, and contract work, participate in the conflict of interest program, and support effective and efficient use, coordination, and oversight of outside counsel. Strong academic and professional credentials, JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school, license to practice as an attorney in New York (or within one year of hiring), and several years of progressively responsible experience after completion of legal education. Must have experience, including drafting and negotiating agreements, excellent interpersonal skills that foster successful interaction and collaboration with a diverse array of legal colleagues, clients, and leaders at all levels, and self-motivation and a demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently handle and organize multiple tasks and initiatives in a broad range of substantive areas; prioritizing and working independently in a highly collegial and high performing environment. Must have impeccable oral and written communication skills, negotiation skills, and an ability to identify and address complicated and sensitive problems with creativity and with professional discretion and judgment as well as keen attention to accuracy and detail. Must have significant experience with keeping confidences, commitment to high ethical and professional standards, and a high degree of personal integrity and sound judgment.
