A prominent law firm is seeking a lateral associate to join its prestigious and growing tax practice in New York. Duties

• Advise clients on a variety of tax matters, including M&A transactions, capital markets (spin-offs, IPOs), investment fund formation, and real estate tax issues.
• Conduct legal research and provide strategic tax planning and analysis.
• Draft legal documents, such as memoranda, opinions, and filings.
• Communicate directly with clients, providing advice and guidance on complex tax issues.
• Participate in public speaking opportunities, including presenting at national tax conferences.
• Collaborate with colleagues on various aspects of tax law, including cross-disciplinary projects.
• Manage relationships with clients and contribute to business development efforts.

Requirements

• Law school class years 2020 to 2022.
• Strong understanding of the technical aspects of tax law.
• Experience with M&A transactions, capital markets (including spin-offs and IPOs), investment fund formation, or real estate tax matters.
• Outstanding oral communication and analytical skills.
• Ability to think creatively and approach complex legal problems with innovative solutions.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with enthusiasm for client interaction and team collaboration.

Education

• J.D. (Juris Doctor) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active license to practice law or eligibility to obtain licensure in New York.
