Senior Manager, R&D Procurement, Strategic & Innovative Transactions
The candidate will review and respond to third-party redlines, and support business stakeholders in understanding potential risks. Project management and operational support for various contracting and strategic initiatives as well as sourcing events. Review, redline, draft, and negotiate routine contracts with minimal supervision for assigned categories, and for complex contracts under the guidance of transactional attorneys. Partner with attorneys providing advice on transactions, patient data privacy law, and other regulatory matters, as well as other internal SMEs to draft and update contract templates. Develop and maintain fallback guidance, playbooks, and other internal documents with advice from transactional attorneys. Serve as a primary point of contact for external parties, engage internal stakeholders in negotiation decisions, and manage contracts through the negotiation process. Gather contract requirements and understanding the scientific business need. Lead the gathering and formalization of key business requirements. Prepare and solicit competitive bids, quotations, and proposals. Coordinate and organize supplier responses and address supplier inquiries. Develop scoring criteria with input from key partners and stakeholders. Evaluate competitive offerings and assess supplier product & pricing information. Support design/development of procurement compliance programs that align to organizational objectives and business strategies. Conduct pricing or fair market value analysis & support risk management as required. Support Business Partnering & Strategy and manage stakeholders within applicable business units (i.e. Clinical Development). Consult with Strategic Sourcing & Procurement (SSP) & SE Leadership, legal & senior leadership of suppliers. Bachelor’s degree is required. J.D./MS/MBA is preferred. Should have 3-5 years prior work experience in contract management at a large company or contracts service provider. Experience in applying organizational standards when drafting contracts and negotiating terms is required. Experience in the pharmaceutical or consulting industry is preferred. Professional Certifications (e.g. CPM, CPIM) is a plus. PMP certificate is preferred. Membership in Professional Associations (e.g. ISM) is preferred.
