Assistant City Attorney II
The candidate should have experience and specialized knowledge in Colorado water law and water quality regulation to join our team of talented attorneys and support staff to provide legal counsel to the City Council, departments, and boards and commissions. Will primarily support the Utilities Department of Public Works on water quality, regulatory compliance, and water rights legal matters. Also advise other departments on a variety of other legal issues including environmental matters. May represent the firm before administrative agencies, in municipal or water court, trial and appellate courts, at board and commission meetings, in real estate transactions, or numerous other specialty areas. Provide legal advice to departments, administrative staff, and boards and commissions. May include attending evening meetings. Includes conducting or assisting with legal research and preparing formal legal opinions. Prepare ordinances and resolutions. Represent the firm in civil litigation cases and administrative hearings under the direction of the Attorney. Includes preparation of memoranda, motions, briefs and pleadings to be filed in judicial or quasi-judicial proceedings. Includes advising departments regarding the rules of evidence and procedure. Negotiate, review and prepare agreements and contracts. Perform other duties and legal services as assigned. Know and follow firm and department policies. Reinforce and expand legal and subject matter expertise through professional training and development.
