Job Overview:
A respected law firm is seeking a litigation-focused Associate Attorney to join its team, with a concentration in first-party property and liability insurance coverage matters. This position offers the opportunity to work directly under the guidance of a senior partner, gaining hands-on experience in all stages of litigation. The ideal candidate will be licensed in New Jersey and bring 2–5 years of litigation experience, particularly in insurance coverage defense. The role is based near Newark, NJ, with hybrid work flexibility available.

Location:

• Newark, New Jersey

Duties:

• Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery documents

• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda

• Handle discovery processes including interrogatories and document review

• Participate in depositions and assist with trial preparation

• Make court appearances for hearings and conferences

• Support case management under supervision of a senior partner

Requirements:

• 2–5 years of litigation experience in New Jersey

• Prior experience with first-party property and liability coverage matters preferred

• Strong legal writing and analytical abilities

• Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced litigation environment

• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage caseloads efficiently

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in New Jersey (required)

Skills:

• Proficiency in legal drafting and document preparation

• Experience with legal research and use of research tools

• Strong oral advocacy and courtroom skills

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with senior attorneys

• Strong communication skills and professional demeanor
