Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced insurance coverage attorney for its Chicago, IL office. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years' experience in first-party insurance coverage litigation and will contribute to a thriving practice with cases throughout the Midwest.

Duties

• Manage a busy insurance coverage practice from the Chicago office.
• Oversee junior associates on assigned files.
• Lead defense and prosecution of coverage matters from inception through trial.
• Conduct 30(b)(6) depositions and examinations under oath.
• Perform legal research and author coverage opinions.
• Defend coverage and extracontractual liability matters in state and federal courts.
• Advise claims personnel and in-house counsel on property insurance appraisals.

Requirements

• Licensure in Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois or other applicable federal district court.
• Minimum of five years of first-party coverage experience.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to supervise junior associates and manage files.
• Provide writing samples, including deposition transcripts and motions.
• Strong research and analytical skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Bar admission in Illinois.
