Patent Agent

Profile

A law firm in Denver is seeking a skilled Patent Agent to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a background in electrical engineering or biotechnology, possess USPTO Registration, and demonstrate prior experience in patent law. The role entails collaborating closely with inventors on newly developed products, identifying patentable inventions, drafting patent applications, and managing the patent application process.

Job Duties:

• Work hand-in-hand with inventors on newly created products
• Assist in the identification of patentable inventions
• Research current patented technologies to best assist clients in patentable work
• Draft patent applications with the assistance of the patent team
• Track the patent application process from initial application to granted patent to ensure the team remains on track
• Conduct ability searches regularly
• Solve client challenges and respond to client needs
• Respond to office actions and correspond with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
• Assist patent attorneys with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications
• Consistently meet billable hour requirements

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering
• Master’s Degree or PhD desired
• 3+ years of professional experience
• USPTO Registration required
• Backgrounds in electrical engineering or biotechnology
• Prior experience working in the area of patent law
