Job Overview:
A nationally recognized law firm is seeking an experienced real estate attorney to join its Affordable Housing practice as Of Counsel. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial real estate development with a strong focus on multifamily real estate acquisition, development, and finance. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex and impactful transactions, including joint ventures and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) financings, in a collaborative and sophisticated legal environment.

Location:

• Washington, D.C.

Duties:

• Advise clients on all aspects of commercial real estate development transactions

• Manage and structure acquisitions, financings, and dispositions of multifamily real estate assets

• Handle joint venture and equity structuring for affordable housing projects

• Draft and negotiate real estate-related agreements and transactional documents

• Provide guidance on LIHTC and related financing structures

• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver strategic legal solutions

• Engage with developers, investors, and public agencies involved in affordable housing initiatives

Requirements:

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial real estate transactions

• Demonstrated expertise in multifamily development, acquisition, and finance

• Strong understanding of real estate deal structures and market practices

• Experience working with joint venture equity and LIHTC transactions strongly preferred

• Proven ability to manage complex transactions from start to finish

• Exceptional interpersonal, drafting, and negotiation skills

• Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team setting

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active bar membership in good standing in the jurisdiction of practice or ability to become admitted promptly

Skills:

• Deep knowledge of real estate finance, affordable housing structures, and development

• Proficiency in drafting and negotiating real estate and financing documents

• Strong client communication and relationship management abilities

• Strategic thinking with practical execution

• Ability to juggle multiple high-value matters and deadlines effectively
