Job Overview: A law firm in Greenbelt, MD, seeks a dedicated and experienced Estate Planning Associate Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of substantive experience in tax or estate planning, estate administration, wealth management, probate, wills and trusts, and trust administration for businesses and individuals. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Structure and implement comprehensive estate plans for clients, including individuals and businesses.
  • Prepare and draft wills, trust agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Administer trusts and handle probate proceedings efficiently and accurately.
  • Advise clients on tax implications of estate plans and other related matters.
  • Guide wealth management and estate administration.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on current laws and regulations affecting estate planning.
  • Represent clients in court for estate administration and probate matters.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, providing superior client service and communication.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of substantive experience in tax or estate planning, estate administration, wealth management, probate, wills and trusts, and trust administration.
  • Admitted to the Maryland Bar and in good standing.
  • Proven ability to structure comprehensive estate plans and handle complex probate and trust administration matters.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Superior client-service orientation and the ability to manage client relationships effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Excellent academic credentials.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Maryland Bar (required).
  • Additional certifications in estate planning or related areas (preferred but not required).

Skills:

  • Expertise in estate planning, probate, wills, and trust administration.
  • Strong legal drafting and document preparation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of tax laws related to estate planning.
  • Proficiency in legal research and use of legal research tools.
  • High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
