Duties

  • Represent public school districts and other educational institutions in legal matters.
  • Handle labor and employment issues, ensuring compliance with relevant laws.
  • Advise on governance matters, including the Open Meetings Act and Inspection of Public Records Act.
  • Provide legal support in administrative law, real estate, and construction matters.
  • Address business issues and student-related legal concerns, including civil rights, constitutional law, and disability law.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, and other legal documents.
  • Participate in public speaking engagements and provide training to clients.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients to develop legal strategies.
  • Attend meetings, hearings, and court proceedings as required.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of New Mexico.
  • 1-3 years of experience as an attorney.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with clients and colleagues.
  • Public speaking experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with school districts or other governmental entities is preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar license in New Mexico.
