The candidate will assess strategy and prepare documents for responding to environmental violations alleged by Illinois EPA and USEPA. Participate in meetings with clients and regulators regarding environmental permitting and alleged violations. Make court appearances and appear at hearings before the Illinois Pollution Control Board. Research, analyze, and interpret law sources such as statutes, rules and regulations, ordinances, court decisions, and legal opinions. Assist with document review. Conduct depositions. Write motions and responses to discovery. Monitor routine case files to ensure deadlines are maintained; investigate facts and legal matters to determine causes of action. Should have good standing with the Illinois bar; strong interest and desire to learn environmental law; strong research skills; strong writing skills; strong analytical skills. Should have deposition experience.
