Job Overview

Primary Responsibilities
Lead case development from inception through resolution, including client intake, fact investigation, drafting pleadings, and strategizing motions
Conduct in-depth legal research on securities regulations, corporate governance, and fiduciary duties; translate findings into persuasive memoranda and briefs
Draft and file complaints, motions, and discovery requests; handle document review and deposition preparation with precision
Collaborate with colleagues to craft tactical litigation plans, coordinating assignments and sharing insights on evolving legal theories
Represent clients in court hearings, settlement conferences, and mediations, articulating complex arguments with clarity and poise
Cultivate and maintain relationships with institutional and individual clients, providing regular updates on case status and potential developments
Mentor junior associates and paralegals, offering guidance on litigation best practices, document drafting, and case management
Identify opportunities to expand the practice’s footprint—whether through recruiting boutique teams or spearheading outreach to referral sources
Qualifications & Experience
Licensed to practice in New York State (active, in good standing)
Minimum of four years of litigation experience in Big Law, a plaintiffs’ securities boutique, or a firm focused on intricate, high-stakes disputes
Demonstrated ability to manage caseloads autonomously while also thriving in a collaborative environment
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for crafting compelling legal arguments and clear client correspondence
Detail-driven approach: capable of dissecting voluminous financial records, SEC filings, and corporate governance documents
Proactive mindset: anticipates issues, raises strategic questions, and follows through on assignments with minimal supervision
Education & Credentials
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; coursework or certification in securities regulation strongly preferred
Membership in the New York State Bar (no pending disciplinary actions)
Additional credentials (e.g., participation in specialized securities-focused CLE programs, recognition in legal journals, or prior clerkships) are advantageous
Desired Knowledge & Skills
Securities & Fiduciary Law: Familiarity with federal securities statutes (e.g., Section 10(b), 14(a)), state corporate-law provisions governing fiduciary duties, and recent case law trends
Financial Acumen: Understanding of capital markets, corporate financial statements, and valuation concepts to spot actionable insights in shareholder-derivative claims
