A prominent law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Intellectual Property practice in the Chicago office. Location:

• Chicago, IL

Duties:

• Manage a variety of intellectual property matters including patent prosecution and trademark work

• Draft patent applications and related IP documentation

• Conduct legal research and write briefs for IP litigation and prosecution matters

• Collaborate with shareholders and senior attorneys on strategic IP protection and enforcement

• Participate in business development and client-facing activities

• Ensure timely and high-quality service in a fast-paced practice

Requirements:

• 2–5 years of experience in intellectual property law, with a focus on patent and trademark matters

• Prior experience drafting patent applications

• Demonstrated proficiency in legal research and written advocacy

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple matters simultaneously

• Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field

Certifications:

• Admitted to practice in the state of Illinois or in the process of obtaining admission

• Registered or eligible for registration as a patent attorney before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

Skills:

• Strong patent drafting and IP litigation support experience

• Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills

• Detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure

• Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external clients

• Business development mindset and professional demeanor
