The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, preferably with an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Optics, Physics, or Biomedical (with an electrical or software focus), and experience in software and AI. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to manage time effectively, and a commitment to embracing new skills and best practices.

Duties:

  • Conduct patent prosecution, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications
  • Manage patent portfolios and provide strategic advice regarding portfolio development and management
  • Perform patent analysis/opinions of counsel and participate in inter partes reviews (IPRs) as needed
  • Collaborate with clients, attorneys, and staff to develop effective patent strategies
  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Optics, Physics, or Biomedical (with an electrical or software focus)
  • 2+ years of prosecution experience at a firm or in-house
  • Experience with portfolio management
  • Preference for candidates with experience in optics, acoustics, video and audio signal processing and codecs, virtual/augmented reality, and microscopy systems and imaging techniques
  • Experience in software and AI is a plus
  • Graduate-level experience or advanced technical degree is a plus
  • Admission to the USPTO is a plus
