Duties

• Draft, file, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical fields

• Analyze complex scientific literature and patent disclosures to develop comprehensive strategies

• Conduct freedom-to-operate, patentability, and landscape analyses

• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to align patent strategy with business objectives

• Manage multiple client matters simultaneously with autonomy and accountability

• Participate in IP portfolio management and strategic advising for emerging and established companies

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution focused on biotechnology or pharmaceutical subject matter

• Admission to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

• Membership in or eligibility for admission to the Washington or Oregon State Bar (for attorneys only)

• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team setting

• Excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills

• Proven commitment to high-quality client service and legal ethics

Education

• Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred) in a relevant life sciences discipline, such as:

  • Biochemistry

  • Molecular or Cellular Biology

  • Immunology

  • Biology

Certifications

• USPTO Registration (mandatory for all candidates)

• State Bar admission (mandatory for attorney applicants)
