Legal Secretary - Trainee

Duties: Creates document shells/drafts. Makes edits to documents (in Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Drafts and mails correspondence. Opens new matters including preparation of engagement letter. Profiles documents and email messages into document management system. Assists with applications for admissions to courts, bar associations and other organizations. Coordinates and completes court filings. Researches local rules. Checks court website and downloads documents through Pacer. Coordinates preparation and service of discovery, including subpoenas. Coordinates calendaring of documents with Calendar Department. Orders court reporters for court appearances. Coordinates deposition set-up and details including court reporter/videographer. Coordinates registration for CLE/association programs. Maintains MCLE records. Arranges telephone court appearances. Manages document distribution and other communications with teams. Redlines documents. Proofreads work product. Enters, proofreads and releases time entries. Coordinates business travel arrangements. Creates and maintains files and indexes.
