Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Tax Associate for its New Orleans, LA office. This role involves advising individual and business clients on international, federal, state, and local tax issues, corporate formation, acquisitions, mergers, restructurings, and other transactional needs. The associate will also assist in teaching law school classes and presenting at tax conferences.

Duties

• Advise clients on international, federal, and state tax implications.
• Assist with corporate formation, acquisitions, mergers, and restructurings.
• Manage federal tax audits and administrative appeals.
• Collaborate with a partner on teaching law school classes.
• Write articles for professional publications.
• Present at tax conferences.

Requirements

• J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation required.
• Willing to take LA bar if licensed outside of LA.
• LL.M. in Taxation from NYU, Georgetown, or Northwestern preferred.
• Proven business development track record.
• Experience teaching in a law school setting.
• Experience presenting at tax conferences.
• Former CPA, government experience, or international tax experience required.

Education

• J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation.

Certifications

• Bar admission in Louisiana or willingness to obtain.
