Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a Business Litigation Associate to join its collaborative litigation team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex commercial matters, representing a diverse client base in both courtroom and alternative dispute resolution settings. The position is ideal for an attorney with strong research, writing, and litigation skills, and a commitment to professional excellence in a dynamic legal environment.

Location:

• New Haven, CT

Duties:

• Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations

• Take and defend depositions

• Research factual and legal issues and strategize with senior attorneys

• Draft memoranda, pleadings, discovery documents, motions, and briefs

• Examine records and transactions underlying business disputes

• Conduct investigations related to potential client claims

• Work across commercial litigation practice areas as needed

• Collaborate with attorneys in other departments to provide well-rounded client support

• Meet a minimum of 1,800 billable hours annually

Requirements:

• 4–7 years of litigation experience

• Background in complex commercial litigation and/or bankruptcy preferred

• Experience practicing in Connecticut State and Federal Courts

• Federal or state judicial clerkship experience preferred

• Ability to handle multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

• Strong time management and organizational skills

• Demonstrated high standards of professionalism and performance

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in Connecticut (required)

• Admission to the New York and/or Massachusetts bar (preferred)

Skills:

• Excellent legal research and writing capabilities
