Duties

• Draft original motions and litigation-related documents.
• Prepare discovery requests and responses.
• Build case defenses and trial themes independently.
• Support national trial and coordinating counsel teams.
• Analyze state and federal case law for pre-trial motions.
• Interview and prepare witnesses for testimony.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Argue motions in court.
• Develop client relationships through communication.
• Draft pre-trial reports and perform risk analysis.
• Participate in mediations and settlement conferences.
• Develop strategies for case resolution.
• Supervise work for case paralegals.
• Negotiate settlements with opposing parties.
• Engage in networking to develop client relationships.
• Demonstrate leadership in the community.
• Provide support to senior legal staff.
• Meet annual billable requirements.

Requirements

• 3-6 years of complex litigation experience in a law firm.
• Admission to the Rhode Island State Bar.
• Experience in a billable work environment.
• Experience in environmental, commercial, or product liability litigation.
• Client service-oriented with effective prioritization skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
• Superior written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• FileVine or document management system experience preferred.
• Ability to commute to Boston office as needed.

Education

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications
