Job Overview:
A fast-growing, law firm based in San Francisco is seeking a highly motivated California-licensed Litigation Attorney to join its team. The firm specializes in landlord-tenant law and helps California tenants who have faced illegal eviction, discrimination, harassment, or uninhabitable living conditions recover compensation from their landlords. The ideal candidate will be an experienced attorney capable of managing a portfolio of litigation matters and leading a team of legal professionals. This is a fully remote position offering excellent benefits and a supportive work environment with opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Location:

  • San Francisco, CA

Duties:

  • Manage a portfolio of litigation matters, ensuring timely progression through the pipeline.
  • Act as the responsible attorney for cases, including attending court hearings, defending clients at depositions, taking opposing parties' depositions, attending mediations, and occasionally second-chairing trials.
  • Provide legal advice to clients on complex issues that cannot be addressed by case managers.
  • Oversee and mentor paralegals and case managers, ensuring the quality of their work and meeting all litigation deadlines.
  • Handle high-level litigation tasks, including taking and defending depositions, preparing for trial, and assisting in trial preparation.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership to improve internal policies, systems, and procedures for better efficiency.
  • Participate in daily huddles, weekly roundtables, team meetings, and quarterly planning sessions focused on personal and professional goals.

Requirements:

  • California licensed attorney in good standing with a discipline-free record.
  • Experience in civil litigation, preferably plaintiff-side, with strong skills in taking and defending depositions.
  • Comfortable with remote work and modern technology, including video conferencing and AI tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple litigation matters simultaneously and lead a team effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work early, late, or on weekends when necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an empathetic approach to clients.
  • Positive attitude, sense of humor, and a proactive, self-directed work ethic.
  • Must be able to work without extensive supervision and have a strong initiative.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar, with a discipline-free record.

Skills:

  • Strong litigation and trial preparation skills, including depositions, mediations, and negotiating settlements.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with legal technology and case management software.
  • High attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks with ease.
  • Collaborative and approachable, while maintaining professionalism and leadership.

Benefits:

  • 100% remote work with firm-issued equipment.
  • Unlimited bonus potential based on objective milestones.
  • Open (unlimited) paid time off.
  • Health, dental, vision, and life insurance after 60 days of full-time employment.
  • Paid holidays (10 days per year) and paid sick leave.
  • Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit through weekly Lunch & Learns.
  • Payment of California State Bar annual fees.
  • Professional growth opportunities.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with mandatory employer contributions after one year.
