The candidate will coordinate pro bono/volunteer initiatives and assist with supervision of AmeriCorps members providing services at court-based self-help centers and to self-represented litigants in Family Law, (including divorce, divorce modification, paternity, restraining orders, child abuse and neglect and some guardianship and adoptions), Public Assistance Benefits, Housing and Consumer Protection. Should be a member in good standing of the Bar of the State of Hawai‘i or scheduled to take the July 2022 bar exam. Practice experience and familiarity in procedures in family, public assistance, housing, and consumer protection areas of practice. Supervisory experience preferred. Project management experience preferred. Demonstrable commitment to social justice or experience working with disadvantaged and/or low-income populations and survivors of domestic abuse is strongly preferred. Able to work collaboratively and maintain good working relationships with co-workers. Culturally sensitive and able to work well with diverse, low-income populations. Strong organizational skills to manage a multitude of diverse projects. Able to work under pressure in an empathetic and professional manner.
