Job Overview

An international law firm is seeking a Global Finance Associate to join its Chicago office. This position is ideal for a mid-level associate with at least two years of experience in private credit, direct lending, syndicated lending, or asset-based lending. The role focuses on representing lender clients in complex finance transactions and requires strong drafting, negotiation, and leadership skills. Familiarity with sponsor or leveraged buyout (LBO) finance is preferred.

Duties

• Lead and manage a variety of lending transactions on behalf of lender-side clients

• Draft, negotiate, and review transaction documents, including credit agreements and security documents

• Advise clients on matters related to private credit, direct lending, syndicated loans, and asset-based finance

• Coordinate with internal and external teams to ensure smooth transaction execution

• Maintain awareness of market trends and legal developments impacting financial transactions

• Support senior attorneys and partners on complex matters involving sponsor or LBO financing

• Ensure client service excellence and timely delivery of transactional work

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant legal experience in private credit, direct lending, syndicated lending, or asset-based lending

• Experience with sponsor finance or leveraged buyout (LBO) finance is preferred

• Strong transactional background with demonstrated ability to manage deals independently

• Admitted or eligible for prompt admission to the Illinois Bar

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active or pending admission to the Illinois Bar
